How the penis works?Well it's not as easy as you think. An erection implies several events to happen simultaneously, numerous chemical reactions being involved in this. The corpus spongiosum has a normal blood flow during all the phases of an erection. The ejaculation occurs when the semen comes out of the penis by a contraction of the muscles. Ejaculation is coordinated by the brain and lasts a specific length of time. It definitely shouldn't be confused with the orgasm. They are two different things. The orgasm is the actual contraction of the muscles. Ejaculatory dysfunctions can appear due to trauma like surgery, parasitic infections, back injuries, colon cancer and testicular cancer. Drugs including alcohol, cold pills, medications used to treat depression can create conditions for retrograde ejaculation. Sexual dysfunctions have many causes, the most common being: diabetes, alcoholism, aging, renal insufficiency, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and recreational drugs like tobacco. Impotence appears when the blood canʼt get to the penis, the blood vessels being blocked. When youʼre having an erection the penis is filled with blood under high pressure and the valves keep it in the penis. When the blood vessels are blocked thereʼs no erection. Another cause of the impotence is the low pressure of blood from the penis into the veins around it. This is called a venous leak.
